Overbite!

In one of may previous posts I referred to a recent fad connected with IMVU skin design. Well, maybe it’s not THAT recent but I haven’t been a really active member of the community for a while, so I might have missed it… anyway, I’m talking about buck-toothed skins!

I get it! I think we all do - a model with slightly opened lips, maybe even showing some teeth, is supposed to looks sexy. If she really does is just a matter of opinion, judge for yourself. So… I get what IMVU devs are trying to achieve… but simply drawing teeth on the lips doesn’t do the trick!  It won’t fly, people! Lips are protruding, and drawn-in set of whites will also be protruding, making your avatar look as if  she had an overbite. It’s not that bad when you look straight forward but once the avatar moves her head… oh gawd. Why not do what other devs do and simply… NOT do it?! Why not just leave it be and let users decide? There ARE heads like that, you know. Granted that you like looking like a common mouthbreather, of course. But hey, they do exist and even if I personally think such heads make your avi look slightly retarded, they’re still n-times better than the teeth texture on the freaking lips.

In the pic above you can see some apparently very popular buck-toothed skins – all taken from the first 10 pages of the “Hottest Products” section. I must admit I was mistaken thinking there are more of them – I simply judged their vast amount by the number of displayed advertising pictures. But that teaches me the lesson not to judge the book by its cover! Most of those seemingly buck-toothed skins are regular looking ones, but the models are obviously wearing a duckfaced head like this. Sneaky Muneca, you tricked me!

Top Left - KisaTheCutie – no, just no! I have nothing against the skin itself. I do like KisaTheCutie's products, she’s a really talented developer… but she definitely dropped the ball on this one. Due to overbite the upper-to-lower lip ratio is totally messed up and it makes me think of this guy.

Top Right - Low – ok., I admit, it doesn’t look that bad in the photo. It’s cute and pin-uppy - a truly beautiful skin I’d seriously consider buying if it weren’t for the lip fiasco.

Bottom Left - thegangstamuffin – to be honest, this is the best skin with an overbite. Can you see the teeth texture?! A-freaking-mazing, thegangstamuffin rocks as an artist. I’d let this one slide, because it’s not even that much visible…

Bottom Right - Low – again, but this time Low reached her artistic bottom. Just a white blob in the center of the lips? No attempt to make it look even vaguely tooth-like? My avi looks as if she was about to spit some yogurt on my screen… gross. But hey, maybe some peeps out there dig that kind of stuff.

Bubblegum Princess!

The weather outside is ridiculously beautiful! I thought it’d never happen after all this wintery ordeal we had to suffer in here… it’d be a pity not to use this gorgeous aura as an excuse to get myself a new summer IMVU outfit. I went for a girly summer combo, a bit lolita-ish or even anime-like to be honest. Definitely not something a respectable grown up woman would wear… but come on, summer is coming, let’s have some fun!

Avatar

This time I decided to use my old Shy avi made by TheAvatarFactory. My usual Darya is waaay too feminine for that look. As for the creators… they have dozens and dozens of avatars in all sizes possible, so even if you’re a fan of gigatars (which I personally find fucked up), you’ll find something to suit your needs. Definitely worth checking out, though in my humble opinion nothing tops the CorpseDolly’s female avis.

Eyes

What’s more girly than pink? Yupp, nothing, so nutsbar’s set of cloudy rose eyes was an obvious choice. Rosy gaze makes my avatar look innocent and cute – exactly what I was going for. The eye area is additionally emphasized by insanely long lashes and some eyeliner. Not really visible from under that thick fringe, but let me assure you, they do make a huge difference.

Skin

Previously used for my UberChio! look – Nude by LeScandale. The utter cuteness of this skin is self-explanatory. Additionally, recently I’ve became a huge fan of IMVU tattoo art, so I decided to give this look a lil twist. May I present you Mintarina’s work – SnowWhite tattoo. It gives out a Disney vibe, but since it’s body art it makes my avi look a bit feisty under all that profuse innocence. I may as well note that Mintarina offers some more neat stuff, so if you’re into fun and colourful tats, you should definitely check out her catty (I personally love AND possess this one!).

Hairstyle

Java has recently come up with a new shade of red. Her texture is flawless, as usual. This particular red may be a bit too… well, loud, but it made me think of bubblegum and candy. A bit like California Gurls but not slutty :P So I went for Rihanna , a pretty lolita-like ‘do.

Top

I admit… I bought this Fruity Jumper (by Leeplay) on a drunk shopping spree. I have no idea what made me get it. Really. But yeah, the next day, there it was, all yellowy and fun, hanging out in my inventory. And since I hate having stuff with no purpose, I built the whole look just to make use of this colourful onesie!

Bottom

I wonder if anyone but me bought the yellow tutu… there are no reviews, no signs of anyone needing an eye-raping bright ballet skirt. Samoothy has loads of them in her catty, all in beautiful and really intense rainbow colours. Fun fact – it’s layerable and can be worn by both, male and female avis!

Shoes

Do you relies how hard it is to find yellow shoes whose shade matches the rest. I tried on what felt like HUNDREDS of platforms. So you can imagine how delighted I was to find that Magixs’ Sing Like a Canary pair (awesome name, btw!) is just the perfect shade of yellow AND has a red outsole.

Accessories

Every respectable lolita must have at least one bow! So this pseudo-lolita has exactly one. And a big one :) Took me a while to decide what bow (if any) to get… there’s a huge choice off add on stuff you can place in random places on your head! I finally settled for this fun looking Candy Bow made by IMcandiiz.

I’m not sure if I ever mentioned it, but Minou makes the cutes stuff I’ve ever seen! This golden bracelet is just one example, but do go and check out her shop to find even more amazing accessories and clothes!

Bubblegum Princess without a bubblegum?! I think NOT, so here you have a nice chewy piece of gummy deliciousness – Pink Bubblegum made by xperfectsmile. I admit to buying it only because it was really cheap and pretty well made for that price. Yupp, I’m cheap.

Uber Chio!

"Chio" is just another exotic word to describe an attractive or cute looking girl. As I imagine it, it's more or less like Japanese "kawaii", just not so anime-ish. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm too lazy to do an actual research on this term. Anyway... may I present you my take on chio fashion, great for the upcoming hot summery season.

No change in the avatar, head and eyebrows department - you may find all the necessary links in one of my previous posts. As for the eyes... I still haven't found a satisfactory replacement for my usual ALoyalSacrifice set of peepers that is no longer available. Use whatever feels right.

Skin

One of my personal favourites - Nude skin by LeScandale. The whole look is chio by definition (which I do not now...) just because of this skin. Utterly adorable and cute and sweet and girly and many other adjectives of that sort. I can't believe it's no longer popular, though - I browsed through the "hottest" skins section of the catty... and found it on the 26th page! Come oooon! 26th? Buried under all those atrocious enjoo creations and at least a dozen skins with a freaking overbite... since when is being buck-toothed sexy?! Did I miss a memo or something? Scandalous!

Hairstyle

I must admit I’m not very ecstatic about the hair. This combo was done a while ago, so now I could probably find something that tickles my fancy a lil bit more… but my inborn laziness prevents me from straining myself too much. I do like the hairdo, but the texture leaves a lot to be desired. I wish Java or PH had made this susana hair instead of Raquelle... The bow is a part of the design but if you like your own add-on bows/ribbons, there are derivations with far better hair texture and no bow.

I'm a great admirer of MissC and her work. Her catty is simply bursting with wonderfully made items: tops, shoes, and accessories - you name it! This creator offers, among other things, a few cute rompers, from which I chose I love ice cream, because... hell, who doesn't, right?! I could also go with Roses are red, but obviously I was craving a dessert at that time.

Shoes

Talking about MissC... she's a really prolific shoemaker and if I could I'd probably buy most of her amazing shoe designs. Really REALLY well made, with a great attention to detail. You can't really go wrong with any of MissC's shoes. So it was only right to match her ice creamy onesie with a nice Here I go again pair of shoes. What do you think? Chio, isn't it? I think the socks do the trick.

Accessories

Not a very accessorised look. Won't say much about the lashes or the monroe piercing, since I've been using them for quite a while and have already mentioned them before. No need to elaborate.

The cherry-patterned romper inspired me to find a nice set of cherry earrings. Unfortunately, there wasn't much to choose from. Most look flat and unattractive, so I just settled for this Cherry Love pair by CreamPeach as it seemed most three-dimensional.

As for the Tropic Floral tattoo, it's been in my inventory almost since the very beginning of my IMVU journey. But it hasn't aged a bit... I mean, more and more interesting inky creations pop up every day, but this one still looks amazing even though it's kinda old (come on, it was made when IMVU bobbleheads were still cool!). It'd say it's the only product by PLAYB0Y worth looking at.

I don't like the nails I chose to present... I should have used natural looking ones. But oh well. If you're interested, these are Black  Tip Nails by ShedotCom.

I believe the yellow flower ring was a last-minute addendum so it may not match the rest of the outfit very much... but I still like it, dammit! The creator (Miral11M) offers the whole set of yellowy-flowery jewellery, but the ring is by far the best. I do recommend.
